			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The <strong><strong>Browning</strong> <strong>Automatic</strong> <strong>Rifle</strong></strong> (<strong>BAR</strong>) is a family of <strong>automatic</strong> rifles (or machine rifles) and light machine guns that were used by many countries during the last century. The most common type of BAR was the <strong>M1918</strong>, which was designed by John <strong>Browning</strong>.  It uses .30-07 Springfield <strong>rifle</strong> cartridges.</p>
<p>The <strong>Browning</strong> <strong>Automatic</strong> <strong>Rifle</strong> was designed for offensive use with infantrymen. The <strong>rifle</strong> was slung over the shoulder and fire from the hip which was popular during trench warfare. On the field it was most commonly used as a light machine gun in conjunction with a bipod.</p>
